Design For Industry

Incense Burner

Vessels

Bowl
These were the result of my first term spend solely in the hot glass studio, whilst working on the 'Design for Industry' project. I was looking at how you could change clear glass without adding colour. I drew inspiration  from a dish served on 'Masterchef', which was served on top of a glass dish filled with smoke. This lead me to looking at smoke and how it could fill a glass vessel. The incense burner would only appeal to a niche market and so I looked at the shapes of flames in order to develop this, and then sandblasted the pieces to give them their smoky appearance.
Hello All,

I've been meaning to start a blog for a while now, and I have finally got round to it! I am a Student at Plymouth College of Art, studying Contemporary Crafts (BA). I started the course with an open mind... but I have been sucked into the realms of hot glass, and it is slowly, but surely taking over! I am drawn in by the magic of this medium, and the challenges and physical demands it requires. I am simply amazed by the changes that take place during the making of any glass piece, and I would really love to share my work with you.
